Dr. Anita Morzillo’s research focuses on interactions between human activities and natural resources. Anita applies tools from both the natural and social sciences to understand the relationships between them. Her broad research areas encompass landscape ecology and human dimensions of natural resource management—including the study of spatial and temporal patterns and processes of environmental phenomena, as well as social science that seeks to understand humans’ decisions about natural resources. Many of the projects Anita is involved with have focused on wildlife management, forest management, water resources, and urban ecosystems. Other topics of interest include outdoor recreation, urban-rural relationships, and human-nature conflict within the wildland-urban interface. At the University of Connecticut, Anita is affiliated with the Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation Center, Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Institute of the Environment, and Eversource Energy Center. Anita served as a member of SESYNC’s Scientific Review Committee.
